FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

FAQ: FAQ

HOW DO I GET STARTED?

The first step in starting therapy is for us to start to get to know each other.  The best way to do that is to schedule a free, 20 minute consultation by emailing me at Dr.CDinsmore@gmail.com.   During this consultation, we will talk about your reasons for seeking therapy and questions and concerns you have about therapy.  If we are not the best fit I will provide you with a referral.

DO YOU TAKE INSURANCE?

If you intend to use insurance, I am considered an "out of network" provider. If you would like to use your out-of-network benefits, I recommend that you contact your insurance provider prior to meeting with me to clarify what reimbursement you can expect.

  • Do I have out-of-network mental health benefits?

  • What amount/percentage will I be reimbursed for individual psychotherapy (CPT code 90834) and family/couples (CPT code 90847) in Friendship Heights (in person, zip code 20815) or at your location (virtual) with a licensed psychologist?

  • Is there a deductible I need to meet each year before I can begin to receive reimbursement for sessions?

  • Is there a session limit per year?

  • Is there preauthorization required?

  • What paperwork is required to submit claims for out-of-network reimbursement? (This is usually called a "superbill" and also a claims form, ask where you can find their claims form)

  • Where do you submit this paperwork? (Sometimes it's online, sometimes it's by mail only)

I will provide monthly documentation with the required information that you can submit directly to your insurance company. You have the right to receive a “Good Faith Estimate” explaining how much your medical and mental health care will cost. An estimate of out-of-pocket service costs is available upon request.

HOW DO I CONTACT YOU?

The best way to contact me is via email at Dr.CDinsmore@gmail.com.  You may also reach me by calling (202) 524-0760. I am currently providing all services remotely via telephone or video conferencing.

WHAT IS YOUR CANCELLATION POLICY?

Early notification of cancellations and/or to reschedule meetings is much appreciated! Please allow a full 24-hour advance notice for cancellations. Appointments cancelled less than one day in advance will be charged for the missed session.

HOW LONG DOES EACH THERAPY SESSION TAKE?

Individual and couples therapy sessions are 50 minutes in length. Research has shown psychotherapy is most effective when it occurs consistently on a weekly or bi-weekly basis. We will determine the frequency of our meetings, as well as a regular meeting time. Should your schedule keep you from establishing a consistent meeting time, I will do my best to work with you.
